These things will actually move the needle before November 21st. ➡️

01 / Train as a team.
Almost everyone trains alone, then expects twelve riders to move as one on the day. The Double Century is a team time trial. Your result belongs to the group, so the group is what needs the practice. Get all twelve of you out together before November.

02 / Arrive with a plan.
Decide your target pace, who does the work early, who you’re saving for the back half, and what happens when a rider cracks. 202km is far too long to improvise. Settle it before race morning, not at the first climb.

03 / Get used to the heat.
Heat adaptation is real, and it takes roughly ten days to two weeks of repeated exposure to build. With a hot summer forecast and 202km of Overberg in November, a few deliberately warm rides will do more for your day than another interval session. Build into it gradually.

04 / Rehearse your nutrition.
Do a long ride that eats and drinks on the same schedule as the water points, using the real food you’ll actually carry. Every experienced endurance rider will tell you the same thing: nothing new on race day. Work out your carbs per hour now and test it properly, so you arrive knowing exactly what your body will take.

05 / Brief your seconding crew.
They have their own route and their own rules, and most teams work it out on the morning. Walk them through where they’ll be, what they’re handing over, and what happens if a rider is in trouble. A good crew is worth minutes.
